Period 8 Feedback

Dear Lexine:

I loved your timing—and your obvious love/passion  for your roots. Each time you reveal this side of yourself, I am grateful on behalf of all students who are educated to learn about places and experiences beyond their own. I noticed your working with various images, including skin, your portrait, the bible. I would suggest making it clearer visually, perhaps not using the map—as I don’t think your project needed it. Your words are already powerful, and do not need an “illustrative” image as much as tonal/symbolic visuals. Thank you, Mrs. BR

I want to lay on the grass with you

As the wind plays a melody around the hills,

Stare at the sky as it changes from blue to orange and finally…black.

I want you to describe to me how the stars begin to pop.

I want to see them, the sky’s blinking eyes through your sweet smooth eyes.

I will…

monologue: Instant State of Euphoria
it does wonders. people don’t do it as often as it should be done. if only you knew how much it means to someone when you do it. that’s why I do it a lot. i am talking about my smile of course. my mouth is the reflection of my inner feelings. if i am smiling, i know i am happy. you’ll know i am happy. smiles brighten up any day. it takes a lot of muscles to contract one smile, and it is worth it. the creases on the sides of my lips reveal how much i smile. when something is funny i smile, then someone is sad, i give them a smile to bring them hope. when someone is angry, i smile to make them laugh.
the smile
not a dental commercial or advertisement
not a fabricated lie
not a hollywood invention
not a superficial pleasure
but
a feeling
a moment
an experience
harmony
a short instant state of euphoria.
my smile i will always take with me and share with others.

In a little while you will be alone in shoreless space, to wander its limitless solitudes without friend or comrade forever—for you will remain a thought, the only existent thought, and by your nature inextinguishable, indestructible. But I, your poor servant, have revealed you to yourself and set you free. Dream other dreams, and better!

“Strange! that you should not have suspected years ago - centuries, ages, eons, ago! - for you have existed, companionless, through all the eternities.

Strange, indeed, that you should not have suspected that your universe and its contents were only dreams, visions, fiction! Strange, because they are so frankly and hysterically insane - like all dreams: a God who could make good children as easily as bad, yet preferred to make bad ones; who could have made every one of them happy, yet never made a single happy one; who made them prize their bitter life, yet stingily cut it short; who gave his angels eternal happiness unearned, yet required his other children to earn it; who gave his angels painless lives, yet cursed his other children with biting miseries and maladies of mind and body; who mouths justice and invented hell - mouths mercy and invented hell - mouths Golden Rules, and forgiveness multiplied by seventy times seven, and invented hell; who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, then tries to shuffle the responsibility for man’s acts upon man, instead of honorably placing it where it belongs, upon himself; and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him! …

You perceive, now, that these things are all impossible except in a dream. You perceive that they are pure and puerile insanities, the silly creations of an imagination that is not conscious of its freaks - in a word, that they are a dream, and you the maker of it. The dream-marks are all present; you should have recognized them earlier.

It is true, that which I have revealed to you; there is no God, no universe, no human race, no earthly life, no heaven, no hell. It is all a dream - a grotesque and foolish dream. Nothing exists but you. And you are but a thought - a vagrant thought, a useless thought, a homeless thought, wandering forlorn among the empty eternities!

A Follower of Signs : A Visual Monologue

I just want to go home. Beyond this door is a man, or a woman , or a whole community that waits and watches and I am invisible except as a warning of change that is to come. Home. 2 years, 6 months, 3 weeks, three days. I will save every penny. Do you see me? Did you enjoy the asparagus, the lettuce, the salmon, the oranges I harvested for you? Did you remember my hands that brought them from soil to your table? I will save every penny. Every dollar is a ticket from this prison. What will happen if I knock on this door? I won’t. I obey signs. That is who I am. A follower of signs.

Monologues

A door so post to open when it is being nock.

A door: is not only a wooden rectangular spot; a door brings opportunities to any one who opens it, but what happens when you can not open it because the key is hidden by others?

Others that think they can control.

A key is a tool to…

Life

The existence of

One’s own nature

‘Til unbreakable silence

Illuminates the wind’s presence

Atrocious misdemeanors

Which every lucid word

Takes on life itself

The book un-issued

Is lost among the shelves

And no one will know of its tales

Every lost word

Presents itself on your face

Every lost phrase

Stumbles down a flight of stairs

And every lost sentence

Breaks the silence in the walls

Your true quest

Is not to find these things

But write your own

With the same invisible marker
